A blog on my learning journeys as I pursue my studies.

Saturday Morning February 10

Just as well I read my text book "Doing Educational Research" by Carol Mutch, a little more carefully this morning. I had the wrong end of the stick about the meanings of the words validity and reliability in research-speak. In our assignment it asked for evidence of these and I had applied the normal common meaning without realising they had specific meanings. If anyone is beginning research as I am, then do get hold of this book. It is clear and so easy to read. I have a bad habit of reading from the back or picking bits and pieces out first so I missed this chapter.
Anyway, I did get a new photo up. That's my grand daughter, Caitlin and I building a sandcastle. I used the programme Hello that this site promotes as when children start using their blogs I want them to be able to upload photos easily without having to have Photoshop etc. It is reasonably easy but I will keep practising.
I've been thinking about my research question for the blogs. At present it is "Does writing on a blog motivate and enthuse reluctant writers to write?" I have been wondering if could improve on it. At present it is exactly what I want to find out. I do have a second question...."Does writing on a blog improve the quality of reluctant writer's writing?" This is a much bigger question and is open to subjectivity so that certainly would need refining.
Anyway, back to the assignment on research so I can get something done before we watch the replay of the rugby match that we missed last night. The Hurricanes beat The Blues and as my husband is a one-eyed Wellingtonian, he doesn't want to miss this!!!
Kapai to ra.
