A blog on my learning journeys as I pursue my studies.

Tuesday 21

Tuesday already.
I received my next module "Children learning mathematics in NZ" in the post yesterday and have had a great morning working the first question. It had an intriguing problem to solve and we also have to analyse out methods of solving it. I had a ball doing this one...... sorry Joce, but no alpha coefficients or z-scores anywhere in sight.
I have arranged with Maraetai school to use a small group of their students in my blog research project. I have met the Teacher Aide who looks after the "reluctant" writers and we meet again soon to discuss the project.
I am reconsidering my thoughts of only using a few children from each school. Will the children have to do my blog work ontop of their own class work? Unfortunately I think this will skew the results. The children might see my work as extra and may not want to do it. I need a school where this could be the main way of children writing.
I know of a school where all the children work on computers for at least one third of the day so I think I will contact this school.
I also need to work out a programme and where I need the writers to be in regards to the curriculum.
I am envisioning the children could be "Level Two" writers as my target age would be 10 - 12 year olds.
My brain is tired at present so hopefully a good sleep tonight will see some more clarification about this.
Ciao.
