Assignment One away! Roll on Blog.

I posted Assignment One today and that felt so good. The next part of this module is to get my Research Question etc sorted out.
My husband's father was taken ill a few weeks ago and we had to make a trip backto Wellington so I really haven't been able to makemuch progress on this. I am going to meet two students tomorrow from Maraetai School and just find out where they are at with their writing. Tonight I'll phone Melbourne and see if my sister's children still want to join. Last year they really enjoyed the blog although they only got as far as the introductions and chat.
Looks like we will have to start on Blackboard as we still have not got a multi blog working easily on this website. My husband is still experimenting though.
Now that research question...... The action research question I used last time was:
Does writing on a blog motivate and enthuse reluctant writers?
I am still wondering if I can persuade a teacher to allow me to take over the teaching and only use the blog as the medium.
My question could therefore be slightly refined...... I could take out the word reluctant and try this out for a whole class or whole group of children e.g. Does writing on a blog motivate and enthuse writers? In what way is writing on a blog perceived to be different from traditional methods? Is writing on a blog perceived to be different to traditional methods? Do children perceive writing on a blog as different to writing traditionally?
I still like my initial question though. I am not sure if I can use it as it is though.
I had better start looking at the requirements for this next assignment. I have to also do some research for Reflective Practice and hope to incorporate the use of The Correspondence School for excluded students in this one. I was thinking of a question such as Does the Correspondence School provide the best schooling for an Excluded student? Do TCS teaching methods adequately provide for excluded students needs? I will need to refinethe question yet.
I personally believe TCS is used as a "cop out" for both schools and the Ministry. We get many students who are already disenchanted with school, enrolling with us. It is surprising that the working mother or older "drop out" brother is allowed to supervise many of them.
I have seen some "alternative" schools set up for excluded students that have really good intentions. Some of these are run by marae based groups or locally funded groups.
Any way more to go away and think about.
Hopefully as we are back in Auckland, I will get more chance to log on.
